Artist's Description

I have always had a fascination with how things look underwater and the impressionist quality of underwater photography. The way the water bends light and creates shadows and highlights on figures give the image a surreal quality; the reality of a snapshot in time.
For years I have tried to capture that quality on canvas with no satisfaction at the end result.
My work in digital painting led me to try to create this impressionistic feeling again.
This gives me the ability to paint in many many layers enables me to use each layer for every color and component. By moving or enhancing these layers I found the feeling I was trying to achieve; the freeing of colors and shapes in motion. Bending the colors involved enhances this feeling and creates an alternative reality. Each piece is a combination of many prior images combined, as well new shapes and colors that each piece demands.
I have always had a fascination with how things look underwater and the impressionist quality...
